Friday 6th March
Today I joined up with the ‘solos’ group, who are also part of the CCC Rally, several women and a couple of men who have lost their partners but want to continue motorhoming/caravanning. The ladies, mostly older than me, were I think pretty brave in driving big motorhomes into Spain. They have a full programme of events/holidays in the UK and abroad all year round to entertain them. They were definitely up for having a fun time!
I cycled with them into Alcossebre and we sat together for my first lunch at Club Pensionista. This venue is open every day for Spanish pensioners; they serve a free (I think?) lunch to any pensioner who would like to drop in. There are also teas/coffees and a bar available. All in a nice building – what a great social asset.
There were a lot of us ‘Ralliers’ and only 2-3 waitresses but they worked like crazy and with good humour, bringing out a very nice three-course meal which had cost us €11 each, including half a bottle of wine.
