Advice received from the Camping and Caravanning Club after I’d set off:-

Dear Member, If you have not already had a call from us, please note the following: • The Foreign and Commonwealth Office advises British nationals against all but essential international travel, to any destination, except for those already abroad and repatriating. See www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice for details• Foreign governments no longer regard anyone abroad as tourists, but simply as foreign nationals who need to repatriate as soon as possible • The borders on major routes are open to foreign nationals who are repatriating, although there may be queues • We are currently contacting all our members in Spain and Portugal in priority order, to arrange alternative crossings where required. Our Travel Specialists will deal with any queries you have, but at the moment the priority is to get Club members safely home • Brittany Ferries crossings are either already full or have been cancelled until mid-April • If you do not already have a ferry booking, start making your way to Calais / Dunkirk • You are of course free to contact ferry operators yourself, although you may encounter long waiting times. Remember you can book online at www.myccc.co.uk/travelabroad/ferries • All French campsites are now closed by government order until 15 April• All Spanish campsites are expected to be closed to new arrivals from this Saturday 21 March (or 24 March according to latest FCO advice). See the Club’s website for updates, but remember the situation is continually changing • If you have a motorhome, you may wish to use the automated Camping-Car Parks in France (not open to caravans). See www.campingcarpark.com for details • It is best to stay in public areas if possible, for example in towns and villages, rather than in lay-bys, and/or stay with other units. Consider travelling with others Our Members Abroad Priority Line is +44 24 7669 4533, but please be aware that our lines will be closed to incoming calls until we have contacted all members in priority order. Please bear with us while we continue to work as fast as we can to meet members’ needs during these exceptional circumstances. The Club’s Travel Service
