Tea Girls & Tea Boys – Christmas in Cambridge

Saturday 3rd – Sunday 4th December

Each year the Tea Girls & Tea Boys meet in early December for a Christmas celebration and gift exchange.

Saturday 3rd December

This year, all 12 of us gathered in Cambridge for our Christmas event. We stayed at The Gonville Hotel https://www.gonvillehotel.co.uk, which is located a pleasant walk across Parker’s Piece (large park area) to the city centre.

It is worth ringing up The Gonville Hotel for fun just to listen to ‘Blowers’ (Henry Blofeld – retired cricket commentator) and his extraordinary voice telling you which number to press for which department – hilarious!

The Glamourous Tea Girls

After drinks, canapés and our girls’ gift exchange in one of our rooms, we walked to our celebratory dinner at The Cambridge Chop House https://cambridgechophouse.co.uk, a Cambridge institution.

All of us

As we returned to the hotel after dinner it was looking very festive. The Gonville’s two Bentleys (in which you are able to ride as a guest, although none of us actually did!) were parked outside. The hotel also offers free bikes to guests.

Sunday 4th December

Breakfast in the hotel when it is busy is not to be recommended!

Many thanks to Julie and Richard who had stayed with us beforehand and gave us a lift both ways thereby avoiding the parking of an extra car.

As always, a jolly time was had.
